Chelsea Clinton had to be helped out of a top
nightclub by her boyfriend after an evening on the
town.
Chelsea with Ian Klaus - he had to help her home
after a bout of heavy drinking
American Ian Klaus, 22, was forced to support the
daughter of ex-President Bill Clinton to prevent her
falling on to the pavement outside the Embassy in
Mayfair.
Miss Clinton, also 22, who is studying for a master's
degree in international relations at Oxford
University, left the club with a coat over her head to
spare her blushes.
Before leaving, she had to make two or three dashes to
the lavatory. She was helped into a car by friends,
but once inside slumped across her boyfriend's lap.
A clubgoer said: "Chelsea couldn't even speak or
stand. She nearly fell over and didn't know what was
going on. She appeared to be drunk and her friends had
to run to get a car for her. They had to pull her legs
to get her inside."
The night had begun in the trendy Met Bar with a bout
of heavy drinking. When the couple left that bar, they
were seen by onlookers in a passionate embrace.
It was a far cry from Miss Clinton's first few months
at Oxford, when she was said to have stayed in with
friends at night drinking coffee.
